How did the mountains influence our architecture?
When it comes to castles , Slovakia is a superpower. We have 180 castles and 425 chateaux. This is a lot for a small country like Slovakia. Castles in Slovakia were always built in elevated locations, like steep hills , cliffs, or rock formations, so castles were well defensible and people living there could control the surrounding area.
At the end of the trip we will take to one of the biggest castle sites in Central Europe, Spišský castle.
18.30 Dinner
What impact do the mountains have on our food?
Try our traditional food „bryndza“, cheese made from sheep´s milk in a typical Slovak restaurant.

At the top of hill Hradová there are remnants of mysterious Košice castle. With people from medival association Castellum Cassovia who take care of the castle ruins and who tell us more about life in the Middle Ages, we will watch the blacksmith at work, we can try out archery and get the taste of medival food.
